LAKE CITY, Fla. — UPDATE 2/2/2021 11:20 p.m.:
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that one of the two kids has died.
They said the victim was a 17-year-old, but did not give a name or identify if the victim was male or female.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office gave an update on the shooting involving the 2 children shot in Lake City. This is what we learned:
UPDATE 2/2/2021 8:47 p.m.:
- Around 5:08 p.m. they received a 911 call for shots fired at SE Lochlynn Terrace and SE Putnam Street
- When police got to the scene they discovered 2 children who had been shot. Both children were transported to the hospitals for their injuries
- Police did not say how old the children were or the extent of their injuries
- A person of interest was identified in the area, police are working on locating that person
- Police do not know the motive of the shooting
- No one is in custody for the shooting
- Police are asking witnesses to call the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office at 386-719-2005 or Crimestoppers 386-754-7099

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after 2 juveniles were reportedly shot.
Deputies are investigating near SE Lomond Avenue & SE Putnam Street.
Authorities did not yet know the ages of the juveniles. CCSO posted about the shooting on its Facebook page, asking for witnesses to come forward:
