JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Parents whose children go to A L Lewis Head Start are concerned about scabies.
One parent says she received a letter from the Head Start program after a child learned they had scabies.
Action News Jax went to the business to get more information. One man who works there says they did have one confirmed case.

"The child came Monday, went to the doctors on Monday and brought back a notice on Tuesday," said early childhood education supervisor Shanode Williams.
He says since then, the child hasn't been back. The one parent who reached out to Action News Jax says she learned about the case last week, but says parents weren't notified until Thursday.
Williams says that's not true. He says when they learned this Tuesday that the child had scabies, they sent out the letter that afternoon.
"Signs were posted in the classroom as well," said Williams.
Action News Jax asked him what they're doing to make sure the rest of the kids stay safe since, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, scabies is highly contagious.

He says they are cleaning items in the rooms.
Action News Jax spoke with the Duval County Health Department. They say Head Starts don't have to report one case to the health department.
It’s only mandatory to report it if there is a cluster of kids who have scabies.
