Couple gets engaged on the 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass during THE PLAYERS Championship

It's a moment these two love birds will never forget.

The groom to be, Ricardo Fonseca, took a knee on the 17th hole at THE Players Championship in Ponte Vedra Wednesday.

Needless to say -- she said YES!

Fonseca received some help with planning the surprise proposal from Golf Champion Sergio Garcia.

After saying yes, the couple got an even bigger surprise.

The couple received a check for $20,000 towards a future wedding at TPC Sawgrass. Congrats to the lovely couple.

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. — For Emma Baxley, coming back home to Northeast Florida for THE PLAYERS Championship was a "non-negotiable" after she moved to West Coast with her boyfriend Ricardo Fonseca for work.

A special time and place became even more special for Fonseca and Baxley on Wednesday. Fonseca asked Baxley to marry him on the iconic island green at the 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass during Sergio Garcia's practice round.

Baxley and Fonseca, who met in Northeast Florida, have had a love of golf in common from the beginning. Not long after they met, Baxley began talking about golf.

Baxley's family has deep ties to THE PLAYERS. Her dad, Bob, has been a volunteer for eight years and was a walking scorer on Sergio Garcia's practice round on Wednesday. Baxley's mom, Kelly, is a co-chair of the walking scorers and has been a volunteer for 13 years. Baxley herself was a volunteer for 11 years, and Baxley's sister Katie volunteered on the driving range for 12 years.

In addition to Baxley's family, Fonseca had six members of his family on hand to witness the special moment.

“I was like, ‘was this girl sent from God?’” Fonseca said.
