16-year-old hit, killed crossing Lem Turner Road

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 16-year-old is dead after he walked onto Lem Turner Road Sunday evening, according to police.

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office identified the teen as Trevius L. Williams.

Williams was trying to cross Lem Turner Road, just north of the Soutel Drive intersection, police say.

A vehicle driving northbound in the left lane of Lem Turner Road struck Williams.

Jacksonville Fire and Rescue were called to the scene at 8:41 p.m.

Williams was transported to UF Health Jacksonville, where he was pronounced dead.

Officials say the teen stepped into the road in an area where there is not a pedestrian crosswalk.

Police said the driver of the only vehicle involved in the accident is cooperating.
