JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Department of Children and Families confirmed that they are investigating the death of a baby.
Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported infant death at Cleveland Arms Apartments on Friday around 5:30 a.m.

Jacksonville Fire & Rescue pronounced the infant dead at the scene. JSO says family members were present at the time and that they are cooperating with the investigation.
A JSO homicide team also responded to the scene of the incident.

DCF says they had a high number of sleep-related child deaths so far in 2015. John Harrell says there were about six baby deaths in Jacksonville this year. DCF believes that the controversial practice of co-sleeping is largely to blame for these tragedies.
The investigation is ongoing.
