DCPS announces reduction in student testing, teacher paperwork

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Duval County Public Schools announced a Memorandum of Understanding in partnership with Duval Teachers United on Thursday morning.

The memorandum will eliminate the annual Curriculum Guide Assessment (CGA) Exams for students and reduce the amount of time teachers spend on paperwork.

The agreement reduces teacher paperwork from 47 to 13 items.

The number of tests will be reduced from 23 to 10 for elementary students and 29 to 12 at secondary level.

Superintendent Nikolai P. Vitti says this will be a 73 percent reduction in teacher paperwork.

DCPS says this agreement will help improve the working and learning environments for teachers and students.
