Decline in people getting vaccine at Gateway Mall site in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A vaccination site that was once giving out close to 2,000 shots a day is now in the lower hundreds.

Action News Jax, Meghan Moriarty, requested the breakdown of numbers for shots given out this week.

  • 4/19 Monday: 624 shots (only 2nd doses available)
  • 4/20 Tuesday: 550 shots (216 1st doses, 334 2nd doses)
  • 4/21 Wednesday: 413 shots (135 1st doses, 278 2nd doses)

“I think a lot of people have been vaccinated already,” Mark Brady, FEMA Public Information Officer, said. “Yes, while our numbers are low and a little bit discouraging it’s not discouraging us from continuing to make a difference in people’s lives.”
