CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — Action News Jax reporter Bridgette Matter spoke exclusively with the victim's husband. --Watch CBS47 at 6.
Court continued on Tuesday for the second day of Donald Davidson's penalty phase.
The state is seeking the death penalty for Davidson. Investigators say in 2014, he strangled and stabbed Roseann Welsh and then kidnapped her 10-year-old daughter.
Action News Jax has followed this story since 2014 when Welsh’s then-13-year-old son discovered her dead on the bathroom floor of the home.
QUICK FACTS:
- Welsh was found dead by her son in a bathroom of a home on Mayflower Street.
- Davidson is accused of abducting Welsh's, then-10-year-old daughter, who was found near the death scene when police arrived. She told police she had been taken by Davidson and then dropped off by him.
- Despite the face that Davidson waived his right to a jury trial, the state is still seeking the death penalty.
- Davidson faces nine counts, including murder, kidnapping and molestation.
- He was on conditional release from prison and had gotten out in September 2014, months before the attack.
