Driver cited, not charged with manslaughter in crash that killed Clay County Deputy Ben Zirbel

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — According to the crash report from the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, there is insufficient evidence found to charge the driver with manslaughter in the crash that killed Clay County Deputy Ben Zirbel.

Troopers said the deputy was heading south on Blanding Boulevard when a northbound pickup truck towing a lawn trailer turned left and the vehicles collided.

Deputy Zirbel was thrown from his bike on impact.

On Monday, the Sheriff's Office will hold a wreath-laying ceremony in his memory.
