Witnesses said at least one person is hurt after a car slammed into a convenience store in Woodland Acres on Friday afternoon.
The store's owner tells Action News Jax that the driver crashed into the building near Atlantic Boulevard and Mill Creek Road on purpose.
The owner was cleaning up the mess left behind, including damage to the wood frame where a door and window used to stand. They have been sweeping and vacuuming broken glass.
The owner said he was told two customers got into a fight and one man hit the other man with his car when he slammed into the store building.
The owner said the man who was hit was taken to the hospital and his condition is unclear. The owner said the driver drove away from the scene, but the owner told us police said they arrested the driver a short time later.
We have asked the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office about this case and whether they have made an arrest. JSO confirms there was a call made at the store for an incident but because the report is not finalized, they have not been able to provide any details.
The owner said the cost of the damage to his property is still unclear but he said he feels grateful none of his employees were hurt in the incident.
