Driver who hit young Middleburg woman head-on turns self in

CLAY COUNTY — UPDATE 9:24 p.m.

The driver of the silver Yukon has turned himself in.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Troopers say after midnight Saturday, a silver GMC Yukon was traveling westbound on CR-218 when the driver crossed into the eastbound lane where it hit a red Toyota Tacoma driven by a 23-year-old woman from Middleburg.

A 23-year-old woman was hospitalized with life-threatening condition after being hit head-on by a driver on CR-218 in Clay County who left the scene before help arrived, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The official report says the male driver of the Yukon fled the scene and the woman was rushed to Orange Park Medical Center.
