JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is searching a Northside neighborhood for two suspects in the robbery of a pizza restaurant on Dunn Avenue. A third suspect is in custody.
Police say two armed men wearing hoodies and with their faces completely covered entered the Papa Johns store before lunchtime today. They demanded money, got it and fled, according to police.
Sgt. Steve Zona said one of the employees inside the pizza restaurant saw a small maroon vehicle driving away from the parking lot.
According to Zona, a JSO officer spotted the vehicle identified by the employees, and a short pursuit began.
Zona said the vehicle was driven into a wooded area near Bethesda Park.
During the pursuit, Zona said the car got stuck and all three suspects jumped out and ran.
A JSO investigator said the car is registered to someone who lives in Cambridge Estates.
Police were seen outside a home in Cambridge Estates Sunday evening.
Priscilla Hatch is a resident in the neighborhood and described the scene as chaotic.
"I come out to the front and look down the street, and I see about six or seven cars of police and they got the dogs," Hatch said.
She plans on staying inside until the scene quiets down.
"[I'll] keep my doors locked and my alarm on, and any other protection I need is there," Hatch said.
