JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Duval County Supervisor of Elections Jerry Holland hosted the grand opening of a new voting history exhibition Tuesday at the newly renovated Elections Center in Jacksonville.
Mayor Donna Deegan and City Council President Nick Howland were among the guests attending the ceremony.
The 1,200-square-foot permanent exhibition, titled “Democracy Starts Here: From Ballots to Belonging,” serves as Duval County’s first museum of voting history.
The display focuses on the role of local election offices in American democracy while recognizing election officials, poll workers and voters.
The museum features more than 50 items, including artifacts and historic photographs. Materials were provided by local organizations, including the Museum of Science and History, Jacksonville History Center, Jacksonville Public Library, UNF Special Collections & University Archives and The Florida Times-Union.
The event also featured the expansion of a wall honoring local military veterans. The Elections Center has served as the location for Duval County elections for more than a decade and will remain at the site for at least another 10 years.
Community groups may request staff-led behind-the-scenes tours of the facility. Tour requests can be submitted online by filling out a form on the official elections website.
The exhibition is open to the public Monday through Friday from Sept. 8 through Oct. 16, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., except on holidays.
Admission is free and no tickets are required.
