Duval County Supervisor of Elections reminds voters about early voting starting Tuesday at 24 sites

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Early voting starts Tuesday in Duval County, giving voters a chance to cast their ballots at any of the county’s 24 early voting sites.

The early voting period runs through Sunday, Nov. 1. Two new early voting locations are opening in District 10, including one at Edward Waters University and another at the Dallas James Graham Branch Library.

District 10 saw the largest voting precinct consolidation in 2024.

Ahead of the start of early voting, people across Duval County have been encouraging their neighbors to get to the polls.

“There is something in the air, Duval,” one voter said. “People talking about voting are encouraging their neighbors to vote.”

At the top of the ticket, Florida voters will choose a successor to term-limited Gov. Ron DeSantis. Republican Byron Donalds is facing Democrat David Jolly in the governor’s race.

In the U.S. Senate special election, incumbent Republican Sen. Ashley Moody, who was appointed to the seat, is facing Jacksonville state Rep. Angie Nixon, a Democrat. The winner will serve the final two years of Marco Rubio’s term after he left the Senate to become U.S. Secretary of State.

Kelly Frazier with the Northside Coalition of Jacksonville said voting affects people’s everyday lives.

“You might not do politics, but politics every single day will do something that will affect your life,” Frazier said.

Duval County Supervisor of Elections Jerry Holland projects at least 65% voter turnout in this election. About 655,000 people are registered to vote in Jacksonville, and about 13,000 have already voted by mail.

Election leaders are encouraging voters to review their ballots ahead of time, including the governor’s race, the Senate race, and amendment and referendum questions related to property taxes.

Sample ballots are available here.

Registered Duval County voters can vote at any of the 24 early voting sites. Voters should bring a photo ID with their signature.

This week, early voting sites are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Next week, they will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Weekend hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For voters who prefer to vote by mail, requests must reach the elections office by 5 p.m. Thursday. Completed mail ballots can be dropped off at any early voting site.
