1 dead after crash involving motorcycle on I-95 & Emerson Street

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 59-year-old man from Glen St. Mary’s was killed in a crash on I-95 and Emerson Street Tuesday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The man was traveling north on a motorcycle in the center lane of I-95 around 10:48 a.m. when, due to traffic conditions, he began to slow.

The van behind the motorcycle, driven by a 34-year-old man, also began to slow due to an unidentified semi-truck that slowed and caused a smoke plume in front of the van.

The motorcyclist veered to the right shoulder to avoid a collision while the van swerved to the right and collided with a concrete barrier wall. After the collision, the van was redirected and collided with the rear of the motorcycle.
