JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Duval County Grand Jury has indicted four defendants for first-degree murder on Wednesday, Aug. 19.
They are David Nelson Austin, Alexander Pino, Zebulon Perkins and Jairus Smith.
On Wednesday, Aug. 19, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office revealed David Nelson Austin, 59, as the perpetrator responsible for killing 17-year-old Leslie McCray over 35 years ago.
Austin is also charged with two counts of armed kidnapping and one count of armed sexual battery in relation to the 1985 cold case.

Alexander Pino, 31, was one of two suspects arrested for the murder of Jacksonville 4-year-old James Reese. He was also charged with aggravated child abuse.

Zebulon Perkins, 29, was arrested in connection with the death of Jacksonville high school teacher Vivian James. Perkins was also charged with burglary, dealing in stolen property, tampering with evidence and fraudulent use of a credit card.

Jairus Smith, 19, was involved in the 2019 murder of a Jacksonville teenager who was killed near Edwards Waters University.
Smith is also charged with armed robbery.
