JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Early voting started strong with a busy first week, but Duval County Supervisor of Elections Mike Hogan said it leveled off in the second week.
It ended Sunday night in Duval, Nassau, and Bradford counties at 7 p.m. Hogan said he expects a large turnout on Election Day.
Hogan told Action News Jax that about 400,000 have either voted early or by mail. He said that’s about a 60% voter turnout.
Election officials remind voters to bring their Florida ID with them Tuesday. Hogan also recommended filling out a sample ballot ahead of time.
After Election Day on Tuesday, he expects up to a 90% voter turnout. That would mean nearly 200,000 will cast their ballot on Election Day this Tuesday.
“If you spend time in there reading those amendments, you’re going to make those lines much longer,” he said.
Vote-by-mail ballots should no longer be mailed back. Instead, voters can drop them off at the dropbox location outside the Supervisor of Elections office in downtown Jacksonville.
There is also an after-hours slot to leave it in. Ballots must be received by 7 p.m. Tuesday in order for the vote to count.
