JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Family members said Jada Simpson, 22, was hit by a black SUV while crossing Cesery Boulevard in Arlington on Thursday night.

A witness tells Action News Jax the driver stopped about 150 away from where Simpson was hit, got out to check their vehicle and then drove away.

Simpson’s mother, Cyntoria Simpson, tells Action News Jax that her daughter is in the intensive care unit with injuries all over her body, including a broken leg.

Now the family said doctors are trying to stabilize Jada before performing surgery.

Cyntoria said doctors performed a procedure to stop internal bleeding from Jada Simpson’s liver.

The family wants the driver to be held accountable and is asking anyone who may have information to come forward.

Action News Jax has reached out to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office by email asking for an update on the status of the investigation and suspect information that may be provided.

We will be sure to update you when new information is received.
