FHP: Crash kills one, injures toddler and others, closes all lanes on I-10 W. near U.S. 301

A deadly car accident that occurred Tuesday evening on I-10 near US 301 has left one person dead and three others injured, including a toddler as confirmed by the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to FHP, three pickup trucks were involved in the crash, with Vehicle #1 driven by a 20-year-old man and a 6-month-old passenger traveling eastbound on I-10.

For unknown reasons, at around 2:57 p.m., the vehicle crossed over the median and entered the westbound lanes, colliding head-on with Vehicle #2 driven by a 61-year-old man. The impact caused Vehicle #2 to hit Vehicle #3 driven by a 65-year-old man.

The driver of Vehicle #2 was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of Vehicle #1 was critically injured, and the toddler female passenger sustained minor injuries.

The FHP report states that the driver of the first vehicle was not wearing a seatbelt, while all other vehicle passengers had seatbelts.

The cause of the crash is yet to be determined as investigations continue.

Authorities closed all lanes in the area for several hours, causing massive traffic delays.
