JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 22-year-old is dead and four others are seriously injured after crashing into several trees on I-295 near Lem Turner Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
According to the FHP report, a Kia Sportage was traveling southbound on I-295 when the driver lost control of the vehicle and traveled onto the right shoulder into tree lines, striking several trees.
The driver, a 22-year-old male from Jacksonville, was pronounced dead at the scene.
All of the occupants were from Jacksonville, according to FHP.
Four other occupants, a 20-year-old male and three 19-year-old males, were transported to University of Florida Health in serious condition.
FHP said the crash is still under investigation and that charges are pending.
