JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE 12/14/2019: Terry Thomas bonded out of the Duval County jail at 4:11 a.m. Saturday.

Terry Thomas, 46, of Jacksonville, is facing 15 charges related to dog fighting, intentionally causing cruel death, and unnecessary suffering.

Thomas was booked in the Duval County jail early Thursday morning, and is being held on about $112,545 bond.

A man who would only identify himself as “Brian’” told Action News Jax he was there when the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and Animal Care and Protective Services went to Thomas’s house.

Action News Jax spotted dog houses on the property when we visited Friday evening.

“He don’t fight dogs, no he don’t do that,” said Brian. “He just raises dogs.”

A spokesperson with the city tells Action News Jax’s Ryan Nelson the city confiscated 27 dogs from a property in Jacksonville recently.

We’ve reached out to JSO and are following up with the city to confirm whether those dogs were confiscated from Thomas’s home.
