Jacksonville public pools and some summer camps reopen starting June 8

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — During a virtual news conference, Mayor Lenny Curry announced Wednesday the reopening of community pools and summer camps. Camps will be at a limited capacity.

Pools, with the exception of Cecil Aquatic Center, will be open Mondays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and 2 to 6 p.m. on Sundays; the openings will occur in four phases based on staff availability:

Additionally, Curry provided details about summer programs. Camp types, locations, dates, times and other important information are as follows:

Full-day Summer Camps – The full-day enrichment camps will provide opportunities for youth to participate in group activities including crafts, games, educational sessions and recreational sports.

Dates: June 15 – July 24

Times: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

  • Legends (based on testing; backup site Simonds Johnson)

Registration will be required. Online registration begins Friday, June 5 and will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

There will be no field trips and the summer lunch program will be offered.

Club Rec Camps – The half-day, drop-in programs will provide opportunities for youth to participate in group activities including crafts, games, educational sessions and recreational sports.

Times: noon – 5 p.m.
