Deadly crash between SUV and JTA bus in Spring Park area, police say

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE 10:30 p.m.: According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, an SUV traveling at a high rate of speed crashed into the JTA bus while it was parked at a bus stop in the 4600 block of Beach Blvd. on Friday around 7:50 p.m.

The two occupants in the SUV, one man in his 20s and another man in his 30s, were both in critical condition after the crash. They were taken to the hospital where the driver of the SUV died.

There were four passengers on the JTA bus and only one person received minor injuries. The bus driver was unharmed.

The bus driver was properly stopped with hazard lights on and is not at fault, JSO says.

The 4600 block of Beach Blvd. remains closed from Gibson Road to Carmichael Avenue.

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded to a crash involving a car and a bus in the 4600 block of Beach Boulevard on Friday night.

Three people have been taken to the hospital, one with critical injuries, according to JFRD.

According to the Jacksonville Transportation Authority, a JTA bus was picking up people at a bus stop when a car crashed into the rear of the bus. The bus driver was uninjured and none of the passengers were seriously injured.

All eastbound and westbound lanes of Beach Boulevard between Bridgewater Circle and Boulevard Center are closed due to the crash. Traffic is being rerouted to Carmichael Avenue.
