JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 60-year-old woman found dead inside her home at the 1600 block of Gandy Street Saturday morning.
JSO said that around 4:30 a.m., they received a call in reference to a person needing assistance. When they arrived at the home on Gandy Street they found a 60-year-old woman unresponsive.
Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department also responded to the incident and pronounced her dead.
JFRD found fire damage in the kitchen that appeared to have occurred later that night.
State fire marshals from the Bureau of Fire, Arson and Explosives Investigations were called in to investigate the incident.
It is unclear how the woman died or what caused the fire.
Police said there was no reason to suspect foul play.
