JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — “How brazen these individuals were as they were walking down the sidewalk,” JSO’s Director of Investigations and Homeland Security Mike Bruno said.
In a press conference, Bruno showed surveillance video of two men police identified as 18-year-old Charles Janes and 27-year-old Damon Williams openly carrying loaded long guns on a sidewalk in front of Hoptinger.

JSO says both had been involved in a fight at Hoptinger and were returning to the scene with weapons.
Video shows one of the suspects swing an AR with a drum magazine up over his shoulder, all while walking among other people on the sidewalk.
Action News Jax’s law and safety expert, Dale Carson, says charges depends on intent.
“Their body language is they’re in a rush,” Carson said.
He added that using guns for hunting or fishing is fine, but things change when a weapon is used in a threatening manner.
“This clearly is different. This is in a commercial arena,” Carson said.
Action News Jax learned Williams was arrested by JSO back in 2011 on domestic battery by strangulation charges, which were later dropped.
