JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — An officer-involved crash occurred on Interstate 295 south of Commonwealth Avenue around 4:28 p.m.
There were no major injuries.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the police officer was attempting to merge onto I-295 after stopping his patrol car in the emergency lane. Upon merging, the patrol car collided with the right side of a sedan carrying one adult and a 3-year-old child.
The sedan overturned as a result of the impact and slid into the center travel lane. The officer stopped on the outside of the emergency lane.
The crash temporarily blocked westbound lanes of I-295 near Commonwealth Avenue and Beaver Street.
