JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE 11/25/2020 5:43 p.m.: Regency Square Mall made the $349,000 payment. JEA gave us this statement “JEA received a payment, and disconnection is halted.”

ORIGINAL STORY 11/25/2020: Regency Square Mall is at risk of losing power starting Nov. 30, as the owner owes JEA more than $349,000, JEA confirmed.

All utilities including water, electric and sewer service could be disconnected.

Regency houses more than a dozen businesses and a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office substation.

According to JEA, the mall’s last payment was Sept. 11.

The mall’s parking lot also serves as a COVID-19 testing site.

Action News Jax asked the mayor’s office how this could impact the testing site.

We also reached out to the mall owners, Namdar Reality Group from New York, and asked why the bill has gone unpaid, and how they plan to help businesses deal with the possible disconnection of services.

Lastly, we are checking with the JSO to see if they are aware of the situation and if they have any plan in place.

We have yet to hear back from anyone, but will continue to update this story with new information as it comes in.
