JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A search is underway for the driver troopers believe was involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash in Jacksonville early Friday.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a 59-year-old Jacksonville man was hit and killed by a car on Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway near Wilson Street.

Troopers said they believe the crash happened between 4 a.m. and 8 a.m.

The car would have damage to its right front headlamp, windshield and is missing a right side mirror.

The unknown driver was traveling south on MLK Parkway, according to FHP, when the car hit the man and continued driving. At the crash site, FHP said there were several vehicle parts left behind, which led them to a possible description of the car: 2015-2021 White Dodge Challenger.

FHP shared an image as an example of what the car looks like. (See below). If you have any information, you’re asked to call FHP or the First Coast Crime Stoppers.
