JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says they’ve arrested two men in connection to a quadruple shooting and murder of a local father.

In 2020, Maurice Anderson was shot and killed in the Arlington area and for over a year his mother tells Action News Jax she would call about the case every single week.

On Tuesday, she said she took a phone call from Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office detectives and met up with them that night. It was a call that she’s been waiting on since the day her son was killed.

His mother tells Action News Jax she stayed in contact with detectives once a week since her son was killed, she says she knew that someday, an arrest would come — and it did just days after Maurice would’ve turned 35 years old.

His mother, Kim Anderson, says she took a phone call from Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office detectives and met up with them last night. It was a call that she’s been waiting on since the day her son was killed.

“A year, four months and 15 days later I got a call I have been waiting for,” Anderson said.

“I am his voice until I take my last breath, all I wanted was someone to be brought to justice for taking his life, because he didn’t deserve that,” she said.

JSO says Odale Baker and Latroy Montgomery are behind bars. Police say these two suspects, along with a third, got into a fight at the house where Anderson was killed. A third suspect with them was also shot and later died.

Anderson was a father of three who was shot and killed in late October 2020. It was a quadruple shooting in the Arlington area.

“He walked in on his friend being robbed and took a bullet,” Anderson said.

For both Anderson and Maurice’s wife, Shawyatt Anderson, they know it’s still a long road ahead.

“To know him is to love him, so why would you want to take his life?” his wife said.

“I can’t ask why, but I just want them to know I have no anger at them, but they have hurt me, they hurt me tremendously,; the whole family,” Anderson’s mother said.

Family members tell Action News Jax he’ll be remembered for many reasons, saying his name will never die.
