JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A suspect wanted in connection to an officer-involved shooting Wednesday morning on Jacksonville’s Southside has been arrested.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said they received a call just after 5 a.m. about a burglary in progress at the Countryside Village trailer park on Beach Boulevard.
When officers arrived, a witness told police they saw a person enter a trailer with a hammer. JSO said they immediately surrounded the area to prevent the person from getting away.

Once inside the trailer, officers were able to place that person in custody, but another person ran out the back door.
During a news conference T.K. Waters, chief of investigations at JSO, said a female officer chased after that person and ordered him to stop, but police said he refused.
The man got into a scuffle with the officer, and Waters said, at one point, the officer could be heard saying “he’s got my gun,” and then a shot was fired.
The man then ran off and was later caught in the nearby area. Investigators are working to learn if he was a victim of the burglary or if he was involved in it.
Neither the officer or man were shot, but police said the man was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

JSO alerted the community at 7:46 a.m. about the search for the suspect. At the time, officers said he was last seen wearing a maroon t-shirt and dark jeans. About 30 minutes later, JSO said the suspect was taken into custody.
