Lake City police say eight people have been sickened from synthetic marijuana this week.

Officers tell Action News Jax there may be as many as two dozen cases.

Synthetic marijuana is also known as K2 or spice. Batches are usually laced with Fentanyl or Flakka.

Those who take it have elevated heart rates, breathing problems, and hallucinations.

“The biggest concern with the synthetic marijuana is that people don’t know what it is,” said Officer Mike Lee, of the Lake City Police Department.
