Emu runs wild on the Westside

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission joined forces to capture a wild emu.

The emu was running loose around Cassie Road before it was captured shortly before 2 p.m.

According to the Jacksonville Zoo, emus are one of the largest living birds on Earth, second only to the Ostrich. Emus can grow to be over 6 feet in height, and can weigh over 100 pounds.
