Even more heavy rain is expected today

Localized flooding possible in some neighborhoods.

Jacksonville, Fl — A stalled front over NE Florida will bring more rain and storms today. Action News Jax Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh says the greatest threat will be very heavy rainfall.

“A fair amount of lightning, rainfall rates well above one to two inches per hour so be careful on highways and interstates with some ponding of water. Localized flooding will be possible”, Buresh said.

The weather pattern shifts back toward normal for the weekend, with rain & storms generally in the afternoon/evening. Afternoon sea breeze storms take over next week.

Temperatures won’t be as hot, but that is likely to change by the weekend.

TROPICS: Two tropical waves out there, one in the Central Atlantic and one still over Western Africa. The African wave has better odds of development in the long-term, but both are far away. We’re tracking.
