JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Event planners, music entertainers and sports venues are all on pins and needles, taking it day-by-day when it comes to re-opening under coronavirus restrictions.

With many restrictions in place for social distancing and safety, amid the coronavirus crisis businesses that cater to lard crowds feel a little lost in the shuffle.

Nightclubs and bars are not expected to re-open until “Phase 2” leaving many owners frustrated. But, those who profit mostly off the big crowds at these nightclubs, like DJs, might be left out even longer.

Event and wedding planners are also struggling. A local wedding planner in the Five Points area just opened her business right before the pandemic. She’s had to switch to virtual weddings or small, intimate weddings of 10 people.

In Action News Jax reporter Meghan Moriarty’s report above, she speaks with a local infectious disease expert about the future of large events, clubs and weddings.
