PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. — A Putnam County jury has convicted former Marion County Fire Rescue Paramedic Chief Murrel Liverman Jr. of child sexual abuse following a two-day trial.
Liverman was found guilty as charged of lewd and lascivious molestation of a victim under age 12.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case. Liverman, who had completed the police academy, was arrested on the abuse charge while applying for a position as a deputy with the sheriff’s office.
Assistant State Attorneys Deborah Rothenberg and Alexander Gilewicz prosecuted the case on behalf of the State of Florida before Circuit Judge Alicia Washington.
Washington is scheduled to sentence Liverman on Oct. 29, 2026. The conviction carries a penalty ranging from 25 years to life in prison.
