JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Family and friends of a local man murdered are demanding action for Lavert Durden, 28, who was shot and killed West Augustine in November.

They marched with signs and pictures of Durden in honor of the man they say was taken away too soon.

"I mean, he didn't deserve any of this," said Frankie Durden-Williams, the victim's aunt.

Families who have lost loved ones to gun violence say the pain they feel lasts forever.

April Sherman hopes this walk for justice will not only keep her son’s memory alive but also help bring awareness to a serious issue.

“We don’t want him to be forgotten. We want the gun violence to stop,” said Sherman.

The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office said both man sought in connection with Durden’s murder were found.

20-year-old Traevon Watson, 20, was interviewed and released.

30-year-old, Brandon Calloway, was located in Georgia and is currently serving time in jail on an unrelated outstanding warrant.
