JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — It's been over a month since 40-year-old Zachariah Tipton was shot to death in the parking lot of Nippers Beach Grille, and police haven't made any arrests.
The victim’s family is holding a protest to try and push police into catching the biker's killer. The protest will be at the Duval County Courthouse Friday at 11 a.m.
The family is inviting everyone who wants to support the “Justice for Zach Tipton Rally.”
The victim was shot on July 26 during bike night at the restaurant after a biker brawl involving at least five people. Police have 230 witnesses they have been interviewing from that night and still no arrests have been made.
The family says they are desperate for answers and have previously held a peaceful protest outside State Attorney Angela Corey's Office.
"We feel like we don't know anything more than the general public and that's upsetting," said the victim’s sister, Tina.
Tipton left behind a wife and three children.
The State Attorney's Office released this statement about the rally:
“We understand the Tipton family’s desire to have information regarding the Nippers shooting investigation. However, the State Attorney’s Office (SAO) has a duty to conduct a thorough review of all facts and evidence. In our conversations with the family, the SAO has notified them that specific facts and evidence cannot be legally released until the investigation is complete. We have also alerted the family that the review can take weeks or even months to finish. The information being requested by the family and the media will be released at the appropriate time.”
