DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. — Photos and memories are all Shameka Tukes has left of her mom, Pastor Ruthene Tukes.
Two weeks ago Tuesday, investigators arrested Tuke’s boyfriend David Monroe, 39, on suspicion of murder after finding the Jacksonville grandmother’s body in a southeast Georgia motel room.
“I still don’t understand why. Had he been here in Jacksonville he would of hurt her, me and my kids too,” Shameka Tukes said.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement reports 15 domestic violence murders in 2015 in Duval County alone.
