FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. — The Fernandina Beach community has raised thousands of dollars to help a girl battling a rare condition.
Action News Jax reported about Adaliene Johnson's rare sensory processing disorder last week. Since then, the community has helped raise money to get her a service dog.
Adaliene’s parents have tried desperately to raise enough money to get Adaliene a service dog, but they cost around $30,000.
The pup will soon go through disability-specific training for Adaliene. The family said they’re excited to meet Adaliene’s new pal next month, and it won’t be long before he is welcomed into their home.
The family has been granted an 11-month-old German Shepard, named Seena.
The mother said they still have about $11,000 to raise.
