Fernandina police recognized for DUI arrests

Chief Jim Hurley accepted the award on June 27th during a ceremony in Orlando, Fla. Sandy Richardson of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Charles Kane, Florida DUI Challenge Coordinator, and Safety Office Administrator Ken Ellis of the Florida Department of Transportation.

FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. -- — The State of Florida recognized the Fernandina Beach Police Department in June for top DUI arrests.

The award was for the most DUI arrests in the State of Florida by a law enforcement agency of 40 officers or less.

According to the FPD, Chief Jim Hurley accepted the award on June 27 during a ceremony in Orlando.

FDP says the goal of the Florida DUI Challenge is reduce the number of alcohol-related crashes, fatalities and injuries that occur in Florida by increasing DUI enforcement and public awareness of the state's alcohol-related crash program.
