St. Johns County Fire Rescue extinguish 8.7 acre brush fire along I-95

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — St. Johns County Fire Rescue reports that it put out a growing brush fire Thursday afternoon in the woods along Interstate 95 near the County Road 214 overpass.

Fire Fighters responded to the area after receiving several 911 calls about billowing smoke and located a slow-moving brush fire. St. Johns County Fire Rescue, with the help of St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Forest Service, were able to extinguish the 8.7 acre fire.

No structures were damaged, and no injuries were reported.

Drivers are encouraged to use caution when traveling in this area. Visibility may deteriorate quickly due to fog and smoke, especially during nighttime and early morning hours.

Drivers are reminded to reduce their speed as necessary to avoid a collision and to utilize their low-beam headlights for increased visibility.
