The Florida Highway Patrol said a motorcycle officer was hit by a vehicle on Normandy Boulevard at Cold Creek Boulevard.

The crash happened around 12:40 p.m., according to an FHP release. Two FHP motor troopers were traveling on Normandy in the left lane. A 2015 Volkswagen Passat, driven by 26-year-old Cedric Brown of Jacksonville, was traveling westbound on Normandy attempting to turn onto Cold Creek.

Three people were arrested in the aftermath of the crash:

FHP said the Passat violated the troopers' right of way, causing 37-year-old FHP trooper K. Robinson to be ejected off the motorcycle and onto the road, the release said.

FHP said Robinson was hurt and transported to the hospital with serious, non life-threatening injuries.

  • Brown was arrested for failure to yield right of way, driving with a suspended license and possession of a controlled substance.
  • Raquel Ronka Brown, 18, of Jacksonville, who was a passenger in the Passat. She was arrested on scene for possession of a controlled substance.
  • Kenya Konique James, 21, was arrested for failure to obey a lawful command and resisting arrest without violence "for her interference of a lawful investigation," the release said.

All eastbound lanes of Normandy were closed during the investigation.
