JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Here’s what the First Alert Weather Team said you can expect for the forecast:
- This afternoon, scattered heavy showers are developing across northeast Florida and will continue for the rest of the day.
- Spotty rain persists across southeast Georgia, where some places have seen more than 10″ of rain in the last few days.
- Scattered showers will remain likely overnight into early Tuesday morning as a cold front slowly presses south across our area.
- FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY for Tuesday as the front stalls and low pressure develops along it. These features will produce widespread rain, some very heavy, throughout the day on Tuesday.
- Many places could see 2-4″ of rain Tuesday, with some amounts closer to 6″ possible. Flooding will be possible.
- Coastal hazards will begin to increase late Tuesday as onshore winds pick up.
- High risk of rip currents.
- High surf that could cause some beach erosion.
- Higher tides due to the approaching new moon + strengthening onshore winds.
- Gusty winds of 20-30 mph Tuesday afternoon will strengthen to 30-40+ mph Wednesday.
- Onshore winds will be strong on Wednesday, resulting in some additional bands of heavy rain along the coastal counties.
- Cloudy skies and occasional showers will remain Thursday and Friday, with a few storms in the mix.
- The weekend will remain warm and humid with showers and storms each day, potentially as a tropical system moves by to our west.
