JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — This morning temperatures have dropped into the 60s all the way to the coast.
- A few isolated showers will be moving off the Atlantic this morning in St. Johns County.
- Drier conditions expected by mid-morning, if not earlier.
- The afternoon will be primarily dry across the area as drier air moves in.
- Highs today will reach near 80 degrees and upper 70s along the coast.
- Winds will be gusty throughout the day at our local coastline.
- N winds at 10-20 mph at the beaches.
- Gusts of 20+ mph likely along the immediate coastline
- N winds well inland and 10-15 mph with gusts of 20 mph.
- Rip current risk will be high and will linger through the weekend.
- Rough ocean and surf conditions continue through the weekend.
- Some minor coastal flooding possible at times of high tide today along the coast and St. Johns River.
- We will likely see morning lows in the 50s in Western Duval county on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
- First time JIA will see the 50s since June 4th (58 degrees) and our forecast low on Saturday morning would be the coolest wince May 15th (54 degrees).
TROPICS:
- (1)Fay is over the NE Atlantic & strengthening some but no impacts to any land areas & starts to weaken again over the weekend.
- (2) Tropical storm “Gonzalo” is off the W. African Coastline and will not impact the U.S.
- (3) Strong low pressure will form off the U.S. east coast then move to near New England over the weekend with heavy rain & strong winds.
- (4) “Nolo” will impact Hawaii through the weekend with potentially major impacts for the Big Island…
- (5) “Polo” is moving away from Mexico but will cross the Baja of California early next week.
