JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville Waves guard Shyanne Sellers was called up to the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks as a developmental player on Aug. 31, 2026.
She is the first player in Waves franchise history and the fourth player from the UPSHOT League to earn a call-up to the WNBA.
Sellers averaged 13.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 30.7 minutes per game for Jacksonville during the inaugural UPSHOT season. She ranked third in the league in assists, averaging 3.7 per contest.
In Jacksonville’s 81-76 championship loss to the Charlotte Crown, Sellers recorded 10 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.
Sellers is a native of Aurora, Ohio and previously played college basketball for the Maryland Terrapins.
The other UPSHOT League players who received call-ups are Michelle Onyiah to the Indiana Fever, Christyn Williams to the Dallas Wings and Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda to the Los Angeles Sparks.
The UPSHOT League began play in May 2026.
The Waves are a professional women’s basketball franchise based in Jacksonville, Fla., and play home games at Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena.
