JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Fidelity National Information Services of Jacksonville, which employs 1,100, plans to add 250 more jobs, Florida Gov. Rick Scott announced Monday.

Scott made the announcement alongside several city council members and representatives of FIS.

FIS focuses on banking and payments technologies and has its headquarters in Jacksonville.

“We'll continue to bring jobs to this great state, and more importantly, continue to bring jobs here in Jacksonville,” said Gary Norcross, FIS president and CEO.

The new jobs are in information technology, and have an average salary of $49,000.

“You've seen the big expansion here. They've added 700 jobs in the last five years. They have 4,500 jobs across our state,” Scott said.

Scott said 1.25 million jobs have been added in Florida since he took office in 2011. He said Jacksonville has seen 16,000 added in the last year.

The announcement brings a total of 700 new jobs in Jacksonville announced in the last week.

Scott announced last Thursday that Ernst & Young is opening a client service delivery center in Jacksonville that will create 450 jobs.

Scott said he's impressed with Jacksonville’s job growth.

“I'm excited to be in Jacksonville. If you just look at what's happening in Jacksonville, we're adding jobs every week. This is an exciting day,” Scott said.

FIS will add the jobs over the next five years.
