Two Florida lawmakers want to expand gun owners’ rights.
State Sen. Dennis Baxley, of Ocala, and Rep. Don Hahnfeldt, of The Villages, are sponsoring a bill in the state House of Representatives that would allow people with concealed carry permits to take their guns to places like courthouses, schools and bars.

The bill proposes private property owners could still choose to prohibit concealed guns.
Baxley told the Miami Herald/Tampa Bay Times why he thinks his proposal would work.
“If you empower law-abiding people to stop violent acts, they can, they will, and they have been,” said Baxley.
