JSO: Man uses sledge hammer to break into Jacksonville pharmacy, report says

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A masked man broke into a pharmacy in the Spring Park neighborhood and stole critical medications for patients.

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office was called to Panama Pharmacy at 2624 Atlantic Boulevard Monday.

Surveillance video shows the suspect use a sledgehammer to bust through the drywall and ransack the pharmacy.

Officers said a suspect was wearing yellow gloves and a tan face mask when he broke into the pharmacy with what appeared to be an ax at approximately 3 a.m.

The owner of the pharmacy said thousands of dollars worth of medication was stolen and they had to turn patients away until they could replenish their stock.

The report says the man broke through a front glass window and used the ax looking tool to tear through sheet rock to get inside the pharmacy.

He tried to get into a safe holding narcotics and money but was not able to. He then stole numerous medications, syringes and diabetic products from the pharmacy, the report says.

He was in the business for a total of nine minutes before leaving with two large black bags full of stolen items, according to JSO.

No arrests have been announced.
