LAKE CITY, Fla. — A fourth person has died following a high-speed hit-and-run crash on US-90 in Lake City that happened August 15th.
The Lake City Police Department announced that Raymond Charles Conway, 68, died Tuesday from injuries suffered during the crash.
Police previously identified the other passengers in the car as 16-year-old Mya Raulerson, 15-year-old Mae Waters, and 44-year-old Bonnie Jean Welker.
Raulerson died from her injuries Aug. 19th at the hospital. Welker and Waters died at the scene of the crash.
Action News Jax’s Caysea Stone spoke with Jessica Puls, Raulerson’s mother, who said her daughter’s mission was helping others.
“She loved animals. She loved people. She liked to help,” Puls said. “Everybody called her little mama.”
Puls told Action News Jax that the day of the accident was the first time she had ever allowed Mya in a car with someone else driving aside from herself and her fiancé.
“This was the first time I made an exception to that rule,” Puls said.
Lake City Police Department officials said just before 9 p.m. August 15th, a Ford F-150 was traveling at a high rate of speed down US Route 90 when it crashed into the passenger side of a Chrysler turning onto Northwest Centurion Court, with the four victims inside.
Lake City police identified the driver of the Ford as 31-year-old Jaron Carr.
Carr left the scene of the crash before officers arrived and was found a short time later at the Gateway Inn, police said.
He was charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving deaths and driving with a suspended license. He is also being held for warrants in Missouri and Brevard County.
