Friends and family of a 22-year-old woman who fell off the back of a motorcycle and died on Saturday said they are trying to make sense of the accident.

Investigators said Teal Starr fell off the motorcycle and might have been hit by a car on I-295 near Baymeadows Road.

Lindsey Roberson said Teal Starr was a perfect name for her friend.

“She was a star,” Roberson said.

Her best friend said she looked like a star on the outside but she was known more for her star personality.

“Everyone loved her," Roberson said. "She touched so many people’s lives."

Roberson said she can’t make sense of it all.

“It was one of the hardest things to hear, and then for the way it happened, I just don’t understand it,” she said.

Investigators said Starr fell off the back of a 2005 Yahama motorcycle driven by Kristopher Todd Mcanear, 23.

Investigators believe she was then hit by a car.

Friends say Mcanear was Starr's boyfriend.

Troopers said they were both wearing helmets, and that Mcanear wasn’t injured.

Roberson said she may never fully understand why it happened but Starr left a lasting impact on her life.

“I just want her to know that I love her," Roberson said. "I’ll always miss you, and she’ll always be with me."

Investigators are looking into whether alcohol was a factor in the accident.

Her family is raising money for Starr's funeral expenses on a GoFundMe page.
